After a long wait and many code rewrites the new KMobileTools generation is here!
The beta1 release of KMobileTools 0.5 brings you a totally redesigned user interface, better codebase stability, full phonebook support, integration with KDE AddressBook and Kontact, better support for a lot of mobile phones.
It also makes you live a new experience with devices handling: no more needing to check dmesg to look your device, no more bluetooth binding, no more permission checking. KMobileTools 0.5 has some new wizards that help you configuring your system. And the device layer is indipendent from the lower backend: plug your phone as bluetooth, then as usb, KMobileTools will automatically find it again, since it checks the Unique ID of the phone (IMEI) instead of statically checking a device entry.
To help you enjoying this new software, we've created LiveMobileTools, a Live CD that has everything ready for your mobile phones.

The gammu engine is not usable yet. This is due to lack of developers and time. If you feel like joining the kmobiletools team and helping enhancing the gammu engine, please join us on IRC.
